Effective August 27, 2026. This MVP policy should receive counsel review before unrestricted public launch.
Information we collect
We collect account identifiers, email address, public display name, broad public region, authentication and security records, review and profile submissions, moderation correspondence, reports, appeals, and technical logs needed to prevent abuse.
What becomes public
Only approved profile information, approved review content, the reviewer’s chosen public attribution, approved representative responses, and selected moderation outcomes are public. Email addresses, authentication credentials, private moderator notes, and unpublished submissions are not public.
How information is used
Information is used to operate accounts, confirm ownership, review submissions, prevent fraud and harassment, communicate decisions, process disputes, enforce these policies, protect users, and comply with valid legal obligations.
Service providers
Authentication, hosting, database, security, email, and monitoring providers may process limited information on our behalf. They are not permitted to use review information for their own advertising.
Retention and account requests
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including fraud prevention, dispute history, safety, and legal obligations. Deleting a Clerk sign-in account closes authentication access but does not automatically delete Honest Reviews submissions, published content, moderation history, or audit records. Some content can be withdrawn, and some minimal records may be retained when legally or operationally necessary.
Children and sensitive categories
Honest Reviews is not intended for children. The first release does not accept profiles for private individuals, minors, named K–12 teachers, or other excluded categories listed in the review guidelines.
